Indications

It is used in the termination of pregnancy and sometimes to induce labour.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with pelvic (female reproductive system) infection , cervicitis  (inflammation of the cervix), vaginal infections, history of  C section ( birth of baby through a cut in abdomen )  or major uterine surgery. Consult your doctor or further details.

Side effects

Nausea , vomiting , diarrhea , blood loss , uterine infections , fever.

Precautions

Patients who have undergone an incomplete termination have a history of asthma , glaucoma (pressure in the eye ) or a high tone of myometrial contractions (strong contractions of the uterus).

Pregnant

Since it is used for the termination of pregnancy, this medication is not to be used in voluntarily pregnant women . Consult your healthcare provider for further details.

Lactation

This medication should not be used in lactating women as it can cause a potential suppression of lactation. Consult your healthcare provider for further details.
