Blephamide Eye Drops
Blephamide is eye drops that fights both infection and swelling at the same time. It has two medicines – one kills bacteria and the other calms down irritation. Doctors prescribe it when your eyes are infected and inflamed.
What’s inside
- Sulfacetamide sodium (kills bacteria)
- Prednisolone acetate (reduces swelling)
What it looks like
Liquid eye drops that you shake before using
When your doctor might give it to you
- Eye infections that are red and swollen
- Eyelid infections (blepharitis)
- Pink eye with bacteria
- Any time your eyes need both infection treatment and swelling relief
How to use it
Shake the bottle first. Put the drops your doctor told you to use in your eye. Don’t let the dropper touch anything. If you’re using other eye medicines, wait about 10 minutes between them. Only use it as long as your doctor says.
Things your doctor wants you to know
These are just for your eyes – don’t put them anywhere else. Your eyes might sting or get blurry right after you put the drops in. Using them too long can cause problems with eye pressure or cataracts, so stick to what your doctor says. Take out your contacts before using the drops and wait 15 minutes before putting them back in. Keep the bottle closed tight and store it somewhere cool.
Problems you might have
Your eyes might feel irritated or sting a bit. Your vision could get blurry for a little while. If you use them for weeks or months, your eye pressure might go up. Some people get allergic reactions, bad eye pain, or vision changes – call your doctor if this happens.
