Indication:
This medication is used to treat bronchospasm (constriction of the air passages of the lung) in asthma, reversible airways disease (diseases affect the tubes (airways) that carry oxygen and other gases into and out of the lungs)
Contraindication:
This medication is contraindicated in patients with significant liver dysfunction, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (heart muscle becomes abnormally thick)
Side effects:
The patients taking this medication may experience hypokalemia (low potassium level), tremor, headache, cramps, palpitation, arrhythmia, sleep disturbance, urticaria (flat-topped but are always elevated above the surrounding skin), exanthema (inflammation)
Precautions:
The patients taking this medication must be cautious in cases of renal (kidney) impairment, myocardial insufficiency (heart failure), thyrotoxicosis (overactive thyroid gland), diabetes. Monitor potassium levels in severe asthma
