Celdrin

Celdrin is an antibiotic from the cephalosporin group. Doctors in Pakistan prescribe it to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It is often used for respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia and bronchitis, as well as throat and ear infections.
It is also effective in urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and certain gynecological or abdominal infections. In hospital settings, Celdrin may be given after surgical procedures to prevent infections.

Formula

Celdrin contains Cefadroxil as its active ingredient. This antibiotic works by weakening the bacterial cell wall, which either kills the bacteria or prevents them from multiplying further.

Precautions

When taking Celdrin, some points need to be kept in mind:

• It should only be used on the advice of a doctor.

• The medicine may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at the same time every day.

• People with a history of allergy to penicillin or cephalosporins should inform their doctor before starting treatment.

• Patients with kidney problems may need dose adjustment.

• The full prescribed course should be completed, even if symptoms improve early, to avoid recurrence or resistance.

Side Effects

Celdrin is generally well tolerated, though some patients may experience:

• Nausea, vomiting, or abdominal discomfort

• Diarrhea

• Headache or dizziness

• Skin rash or itching

• Rare but more serious effects, such as watery or bloody stools, allergic reactions, or changes in blood counts
