Clefer Injection (Iron Sucrose USP) is an intravenous iron replacement therapy containing a complex of polynuclear iron(III)-hydroxide bound to sucrose. It is formulated as a sterile brown aqueous solution for controlled delivery of elemental iron to restore iron levels in patients with iron deficiency.
Functions / Therapeutic Use

Replenishes iron stores in iron deficiency anemia.

Used when rapid iron supplementation is required.

Suitable for patients who cannot tolerate or do not respond to oral iron.

Beneficial in chronic kidney disease, inflammatory bowel disease, or cases of impaired iron absorption.
Ingredients

Active: Iron Sucrose (20 mg elemental iron per ml).

Excipients: Water for injection and stabilizers.
Warnings

Risk of hypersensitivity or anaphylactoid reactions; monitor patients for at least 30 minutes post-injection.

Use with caution in patients with liver dysfunction or acute infection.

Avoid in first trimester of pregnancy unless clearly necessary.

Must be administered by trained professionals with resuscitation facilities available.
Adverse Effects

Common: Hypotension, nausea, taste disturbances.

Uncommon: Headache, dizziness, flushing, abdominal discomfort.

Rare / Serious: Anaphylaxis, bronchospasm, angioedema, syncope.
Cautions

Do not administer intramuscularly.

Avoid simultaneous oral iron therapy (start oral iron ≥5 days after last dose).

Prevent paravenous leakage to avoid skin discoloration.

Monitor iron parameters to prevent overload.
