Indication:
This medication is used in patients with acute iron poisoning (iron overload), haemochromatosis (excessive absorption of iron) and aluminum overload in dialysis patients.
Contraindication:
This medication is contraindicated in hypersensitivity (allergies) to desferrioxamine
Side effects:
Patients administered with this medication may experience allergic reactions, anaphylactic reactions (serious allergic reaction), irritation at the site of injection, disturbance of vision and hearing, opacities of lens, gastrointestinal (stomach and intestine) disturbances, leg cramps, impaired hepatic (liver) and renal (kidney) function, thrombocytopenia, cardiovascular (heart and blood vessels) and neurological (brain related) disturbances
Precaution:
This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with severe renal (kideny) failure or incases of anuria (kidneys are unable to produce urine).
Pregnancy:
Patients taking this medication may get unknown human fetal risk. Consult your healthcare provider for further information
Lactation:
This medication is contraindicated in nursing females
