Diodex

Introduction
Diodex 20mg contains Piroxicam, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). In Pakistan, it is prescribed for painful and inflammatory conditions affecting the joints, muscles, or spine. By reducing inflammation and easing pain, it helps patients move more comfortably and manage long-term arthritic conditions.

Composition
Each tablet contains Piroxicam 20mg.

Uses
Doctors prescribe Diodex for:

• Osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease)

• Rheumatoid arthritis (autoimmune joint inflammation)

• Ankylosing spondylitis (arthritis affecting the spine)

• Acute gout attacks (pain due to uric acid buildup)

• Juvenile chronic arthritis (in children, under specialist care)

• Painful musculoskeletal disorders such as sprains, strains, or backache

How to Take
Diodex is taken orally with water, preferably after meals to reduce stomach upset. The dose and duration depend on the patient’s condition, age, and medical history. Long-term use should always be monitored by a doctor.

Precautions

• Use cautiously in patients with kidney, liver, or heart problems, particularly in the elderly.

• Not recommended during the third trimester of pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

• Patients with asthma, stomach ulcers, or a history of gastrointestinal bleeding should avoid this medicine unless specifically prescribed.

• Alcohol and smoking should be minimized, as they increase stomach-related side effects.

• May cause drowsiness — avoid driving or operating heavy machinery after taking it.

Possible Side Effects
Some patients may experience nausea, stomach upset, diarrhea, or skin rashes. Other effects can include swelling (edema), dizziness, headache, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), or abnormal liver test results. Rarely, serious gastrointestinal bleeding or allergic reactions may occur, which require urgent medical attention.
