Description

Introduction
Disprin CV 100mg contains Aspirin in a low-dose form. In Pakistan, it is commonly prescribed to reduce the risk of heart attack, angina, ischemic stroke, and other clot-related cardiovascular problems. Unlike standard aspirin used for pain or fever, this low-dose form is intended for its antiplatelet effect, which prevents blood clots from forming in the arteries.

Composition
Each tablet contains Aspirin (Acetylsalicylic acid) 100mg.

Uses
Doctors prescribe Disprin CV for:

  • Secondary prevention after a heart attack or stroke

  • Long-term use in patients with angina or other heart diseases

  • Reducing the risk of blood clots after certain surgeries or vascular procedures

  • Selected patients at risk of thrombotic complications (always on medical advice)

How to Take
Disprin CV is taken orally with water, usually once daily after meals to reduce stomach irritation. The dose and duration are determined by the doctor, depending on the patient’s cardiovascular risk.

Precautions

  • Not suitable for patients with a history of stomach ulcers, bleeding disorders, or aspirin allergy.

  • Use cautiously in people with asthma, kidney disease, or liver impairment.

  • Pregnant women should avoid aspirin unless specifically prescribed by a doctor; high doses are unsafe in the first and third trimesters.

  • Not recommended for children under 16 years, unless prescribed by a physician.

  • Alcohol should be avoided while taking aspirin, as it increases the risk of stomach bleeding.

Possible Side Effects
Some patients may experience stomach upset, nausea, or heartburn. Other side effects can include easy bruising, bleeding, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), or dizziness. Rare but serious risks include gastrointestinal bleeding, allergic reactions, or bronchospasm in sensitive patients.

Doctor’s Review
Dr. Kamran Siddiqui – Consultant Cardiologist
“Low-dose aspirin (Disprin CV) to patients who are at high risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attacks or strokes. It works by reducing the blood’s tendency to clot, which protects the arteries. However, Patients need to take it with meals to protect the stomach and to never start or stop therapy without medical supervision.”
