Ecorox (Esomeprazole)

Ecorox is a medication that contains esomeprazole, which belongs to a group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors. What this means is that it works by blocking the pumps in your stomach that produce acid. When you have too much stomach acid, it can cause problems like heartburn, ulcers, and damage to your food pipe (esophagus). By reducing this acid, Ecorox gives your stomach and esophagus a chance to heal properly.

What Ecorox Treats

Your doctor might prescribe Ecorox if you have:

• Acid reflux or GERD – that burning feeling when stomach acid comes up into your chest
• Erosive esophagitis – when acid has damaged the lining of your food pipe
• Stomach ulcers – especially those caused by H. pylori bacteria (you’d take antibiotics too)
• Prevention of ulcers – if you’re taking pain medications (NSAIDs) that can irritate your stomach
• Chronic heartburn – when it happens frequently and affects your daily life
• Other acid-related stomach problems that need ongoing treatment

Taking Your Medication

The basics:

• Swallow the capsules whole with a glass of water
• Don’t break, crush, or chew them – this stops the medicine from working properly
• Try to take it at the same time each day

If you can’t swallow capsules: You can open the capsule and sprinkle the contents on something soft like applesauce or yogurt. Just make sure to swallow it right away without chewing the granules inside.

For powder sachets: Mix with water, stir it up, then wait about 2-3 minutes for it to thicken. Give it another stir and drink it within half an hour.

Remember, your doctor will tell you exactly how much to take and for how long. Don’t stop taking it suddenly without checking with them first.
