Fixval

Overview

Fixval contains Cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It is widely used for the treatment of bacterial infections in various parts of the body, including respiratory tract, urinary tract, ear, and throat. Cefixime works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, ultimately killing the bacteria or stopping their growth. It is important to note that Cefixime is effective only against bacterial infections and does not work for viral illnesses like flu or the common cold.

Uses

Fixval may be prescribed for:

• Respiratory tract infections (e.g., bronchitis, pneumonia)

• Ear, nose, and throat infections (e.g., otitis media, pharyngitis, tonsillitis)

• Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

• Gonorrhea (uncomplicated cases)

• Certain gastrointestinal infections caused by susceptible bacteria

How to Use

• Take orally with a full glass of water.

• Can be taken with or without food (preferably with meals to reduce stomach upset).

• Swallow whole; do not crush or chew tablets/capsules.

• Oral suspension should be shaken well before use and measured with a proper measuring device.

• Take at the same time each day for best results.

• Complete the full course, even if symptoms improve early, to avoid antibiotic resistance.

Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

• Abdominal pain or discomfort

• Diarrhea

• Nausea or vomiting

• Headache

• Mild skin rash
  Rare but serious:

• Severe diarrhea with blood (may indicate C. difficile infection)

• Allergic reactions (swelling, itching, difficulty breathing)

Contraindications

Avoid Fixval if you have:

• Keep oral suspension refrigerated once reconstituted; discard unused suspension after the recommended period (usually 7–14 days).
