Decription

Fucicort cream is a combination topical medicine used to manage skin conditions that present with inflammation and infection. It contains fusidic acid, an antibiotic effective against bacterial skin infections, and betamethasone, a corticosteroid that reduces redness, itching, and swelling. This dual action makes Fucicort suitable for conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, infected wounds, and inflammatory skin eruptions.

Formula (Active Ingredients per 15g tube)

• Fusidic acid

• Betamethasone valerate

• Excipients q.s.

Uses (as per medical practice in Pakistan)

• Management of eczema and dermatitis with secondary infection

• Relief from redness, itching, and skin inflammation

• Treatment of infected cuts, blisters, and wounds

• Support in controlling bacterial spread in inflamed skin areas

Precautions

• Use externally only; avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes.

• Do not apply on broken skin unless directed by a physician.

• Prolonged or excessive use of corticosteroid creams may cause skin thinning.

• Avoid use under occlusive dressings unless prescribed.

• Children and pregnant women should use under medical advice only.

Possible Side Effects

• Mild burning or irritation at the application site.

• Redness or itching.

• Rare: skin thinning, stretch marks, or discoloration with long-term use.

Contraindications / When Not to Use

• Known allergy to fusidic acid, betamethasone, or any excipient.

• Viral, fungal, or tuberculous skin infections (unless directed by a doctor).

• Rosacea or acne lesions.

Storage & Disposal

• Store at room temperature (18–25°C), away from light and moisture.

• Keep out of reach of children.

• Do not use after expiry date; discard safely as per pharmaceutical guidelines.
