Galza-Met

Galza-Met contains a combination of vildagliptin and metformin, two oral medicines used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Vildagliptin works by increasing insulin release and lowering the levels of glucagon, which helps reduce sugar production in the liver. Metformin decreases glucose production in the liver and lowers its absorption from the intestine. Together, they help maintain better blood sugar control when diet and exercise alone are not enough. This medicine is not suitable for patients with type 1 diabetes.

Primary Uses

• Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus

• Helps improve blood sugar control when single therapy is not enough

• Can be used with other diabetes medicines under medical advice

How to Use

• Take the tablet by mouth with food to reduce stomach upset.

• Swallow whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew.

• Take at the same time every day for best results.

• Always follow your doctor’s dosage instructions.

Side Effects
Some patients may experience:

• Headache or tiredness

• Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea

• Stomach pain or loss of appetite

• Constipation

• Low blood sugar, especially if combined with other antidiabetic medicines

Serious but rare: lactic acidosis (symptoms include stomach pain, rapid breathing, unusual sleepiness). Seek immediate medical help if this occurs.

Warnings and Precautions

• Not recommended in pregnancy; consult your doctor before use.

• Do not use if you have severe kidney or liver disease, heart failure, or type 1 diabetes.

• Stop use and seek medical advice if you develop sudden nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain.

• Avoid alcohol as it increases the risk of lactic acidosis.

• Monitor blood sugar regularly and keep sugar or chocolate with you in case of hypoglycemia.

• Inform your doctor about all other medicines you are taking.

Contraindications
Do not use Galza-Met if you:

• Are allergic to vildagliptin, metformin, or similar medicines

• Have severe kidney or liver impairment

• Have uncontrolled diabetes with acidosis or dehydration

• Are a lactating mother

Storage
Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use past the expiry date.
