INDICATIONS
Primary prevention of Coronary heart disease in men between 40-55 years of age, with hyperlipidemias (blood has lipids) unresponsive to diet.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Liver dysfunction, gallstones, alcoholism, severe kidney impairment. Consult your doctor before.
SIDE EFFECTS
GI upset, skin rashes, impotence, headache, dizziness, painful extremities, myalgia (pain in muscles), blurred vision, eczema, vertigo, fatigue. Myopathy (myopathy), Rhabdomyolysis (damaged skeletal muscles), cholelithiasis (formation of gallstones). Consult your doctor before.
PREGNANCY
This medication is contraindicated in pregnancy.
LACTATION
This medication is not recommended in lactating females.
PRECAUTIONS
Check lipid profile, blood count and liver function tests before treatment. Check blood counts every 2 months during first 12 months of treatment. Monitor serum lipids periodically. Check eyes annually. Discontinue if persistent liver function occurs. Mild to moderate kidney impairment. Control hypothyroidism and diabetes. Consult your doctor for further assistance.
