Kempro contains Procyclidine 5mg, a medicine that helps control movement problems. It works by blocking certain cholinergic signals in the brain, which restores the balance between dopamine and acetylcholine in the basal ganglia. Because of this action, it is useful for managing symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders caused by psychiatric medications.

Uses

Doctors prescribe Kempro for:

  • Parkinson’s disease symptoms (rigidity, tremors, stiffness)

  • Involuntary movements due to antipsychotic drug side effects

  • Muscle control problems linked with nervous system disorders

How to Use

  • Take by mouth after meals, usually 3 to 4 times daily or as advised by your doctor

  • Swallow with a glass of water

  • Do not crush or chew the tablets

  • Take regularly at the same time each day for best results

Dosage

  • Initial dose: 2.5mg three times daily after meals

  • Maintenance dose: May be increased gradually to 5mg three times daily

  • In some cases, an additional dose may be given at bedtime

  • Always follow your doctor’s instructions carefully

Side Effects

  • Dry mouth and tongue

  • Blurred vision or enlarged pupils

  • Constipation

  • Difficulty urinating

  • Hot, dry skin and flushing
