Lasoride

Description

This medicine combines two types of diuretics. Furosemide helps remove excess fluid by increasing the amount of urine the body produces, while Amiloride is a potassium-sparing diuretic that prevents too much potassium loss. Together, they help lower fluid buildup in the body and control blood pressure.

Uses

Doctors may prescribe this medicine for:

• High blood pressure (hypertension)

• Swelling caused by heart failure (edema)

• Fluid buildup due to liver disease

• Fluid buildup due to kidney disease

How to Use

• Swallow whole with a glass of water, with or without food.

• Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

• Do not crush, chew, or split the tablet.

Missed Dose

• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember.

• If it’s nearly time for the next one, skip the missed dose.

• Do not double the dose.

Overdose

Taking too much may be dangerous. Symptoms can include severe dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, or low blood pressure. Seek emergency medical care immediately.

When Not to Use

Avoid this medicine if you have:

• Allergy to furosemide, amiloride, or similar drugs

• No urine production (anuria)

• Severe electrolyte imbalance

• Very low blood pressure or blood volume

Possible Side Effects

Some people may notice:

• Frequent urination

• Thirst or dry mouth

• Headache or confusion

• Nausea or vomiting

Precautions & Warnings

• Amiloride helps keep potassium, but too much can cause hyperkalemia (high potassium).

• Risk of kidney damage increases if combined with other nephrotoxic medicines.

• Combining with ACE inhibitors or potassium supplements may raise potassium levels further.

• NSAIDs may reduce the effect of furosemide.

• Lithium and digoxin levels may be affected — monitoring may be required.

• Certain antibiotics

• Cyclosporin

• Antidepressants

Storage

• Keep in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight.

• Store in a tightly closed container.
