Description:
Maclacin contains Clarithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Clarithromycin is also used in combination with other medicines to treat Helicobacter pylori-associated stomach ulcers. Like all antibiotics, it is only effective against bacterial infections, not viral illnesses such as colds or flu.

Doctor’s Review
Dr. Ayesha Malik (MBBS, FCPS – Internal Medicine)
Clarithromycin remains an important antibiotic for respiratory and gastrointestinal bacterial infections, including H. pylori. Patients should always complete the prescribed course and avoid unnecessary use to reduce the risk of antibiotic resistance. Monitoring for possible drug interactions is also very important, as clarithromycin interacts with many common medications.
