Methox Compd

Description

Methox Compd Eye Drops combine Dexamethasone, a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness, and allergic reactions, with Chloramphenicol, a broad-spectrum antibiotic effective against bacterial infections. Together, they help treat eye conditions where infection and inflammation occur simultaneously.

Indications

Doctors may prescribe Methox Compd drops for:

• Bacterial eye infections with associated redness, swelling, or irritation

• Inflammatory eye conditions at risk of infection

• Post-operative eye inflammation where bacterial contamination is possible

How It Works

• Dexamethasone (0.1%) reduces swelling, redness, and itching by calming the immune response

• Chloramphenicol (0.5%) stops the growth of bacteria by interfering with protein synthesis inside bacterial cells

How to Use

• Instill the drops into the affected eye(s) exactly as prescribed by your doctor

• Wash hands before and after use

• Avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye or any surface

• If using multiple eye medications, wait at least 5 minutes before applying the next one

Side Effects

Some patients may experience:

• Temporary burning or stinging after application

• Eye redness or irritation

• Blurred vision for a short time

• Prolonged use may cause corneal thinning, cataracts, or raised eye pressure (glaucoma)

Warnings & Precautions

• Avoid long-term or unsupervised use, as steroids in the drops may increase risk of glaucoma or cataracts

• Not suitable for patients with untreated fungal, viral, or tuberculosis eye infections

• Do not use during chickenpox or measles-related eye complications without medical supervision

Contraindications

Do not use Methox Compd Eye Drops if you have:

• Allergy to Dexamethasone, Chloramphenicol, or any component of the medicine

• Active viral eye infections (e.g., herpes simplex)

• Fungal eye infections

• Untreated tuberculosis involving the eye

Storage

Store at room temperature (18–25°C), away from direct light and moisture. Keep tightly closed and out of reach of children. Discard the bottle 4 weeks after opening.
