Otocaine

Description

Otocaine Ear Drops contain Polymyxin, an antibiotic used for the treatment of ear infections. It works by killing and stopping the growth of bacteria in the ear canal. This helps reduce pain, itching, irritation, and discharge caused by infection.

Uses

Otocaine Ear Drops are used for:

• Bacterial ear infections (otitis externa)

• Relief of ear pain, itching, and irritation caused by infection

• Reducing discharge and swelling in the ear canal

How to Use

• Use only as directed by your doctor.

• Tilt the head to one side and instill the prescribed number of drops into the affected ear.

• Keep the head tilted for a few minutes to allow the medicine to reach deeper into the ear canal.

• Do not insert any object (cotton bud, finger) into the ear after applying drops.

• Wash hands before and after use.

Side Effects

Some patients may experience:

• Mild burning or stinging at the application site

• Temporary itching

• Redness or irritation

Seek medical help if you develop severe pain, swelling, rash, or hearing changes.

Warnings & Precautions

• Pregnancy: Use only if prescribed by a doctor.

• Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor before use.

• Children: Safe when used under medical supervision.

• Do not use: in viral or fungal ear infections unless advised by a doctor.

• Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface to prevent contamination.

• Do not use longer than prescribed, as resistance may develop.

When Not to Use

Do not use Otocaine Ear Drops if you have:

• Allergy to Polymyxin or any component of the drops

• Perforated eardrum (unless specifically prescribed by a doctor)

Storage

• Store at or below 30°C in a dry place.

• Protect from direct sunlight.

• Keep tightly closed after use.

• Keep out of children’s reach.
