Povidone-iodine is an antiseptic used for skin disinfection before and after surgery. Povidone-iodine topical is used inside the mouth as a mouth spray to provide temporary relief of minor mouth pain or irritation, sore throat, or canker sore pain.
How To Use
- Povidone-iodine topical is usually applied to the skin as needed.
- First clean the area to be treated.
- Shake the povidone-iodine topical liquid well just before each use.
- If used as a topical appointment, allow the medicine to dry completely on the skin before applying a bandage.
- Do not use povidone-iodine on deep wounds, puncture wounds, animal bites, or serious burns.
- Use povidone-iodine topical spray in the mouth, spray directly into the mouth or throat.
- Leave the medicine in place for 15 seconds, and spit it out.
- Avoid swallowing the spray. Use once every 2 hours as needed.
- Use povidone-iodine topical as a mouth rinse, gargle or swish the liquid for 30 seconds, then spit it out.
- Do not swallow the liquid. Use up to 4 times per day.
- Each povidone-iodine topical swab is for one use only.
- Use povidone-iodine regularly to get the most benefit from it.
- To help remember, take povidone-iodine at the same time.
- Quantity is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.
- Do not increase your quantity or take this product more often than directed.
