Description

Description

Ziprasidone acts by blocking dopamine (D2) and serotonin (5-HT2A, 5-HT1A) receptors in the brain. This dual action controls hallucinations, delusions, mood instability, and agitation, making it effective for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Its receptor selectivity may result in lower risk of movement-related side effects compared to older antipsychotics.

Doctor’s Review

Dr. Sarah Malik, Consultant Psychiatrist:
“Ziprasidone is a valuable option for patients needing mood stabilization without excessive weight gain or sedation. I often prefer it for individuals struggling with both psychotic symptoms and agitation. Consistent dosing and ECG monitoring are essential for safety.”
