Description
Xiga Tablets contain Dapagliflozin, an SGLT2 inhibitor. This medicine lowers blood glucose by reducing renal reabsorption of glucose in the kidneys, leading to increased urinary glucose excretion. By acting on the proximal renal tubules, it helps maintain glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes.
How it Works

Inhibits SGLT2 protein in the kidneys
-
Lowers renal threshold for glucose
-
Increases glucose elimination via urine

Doctor’s Overview
Dr. Ayesha Khan, Endocrinologist & Diabetologist
“Dapagliflozin (Xiga) is part of the SGLT2 inhibitor class, which works by promoting glucose excretion through the urine. It plays an important role in glycemic control for type 2 diabetes and has shown added cardiovascular benefits. However, monitoring for urinary tract infections, dehydration, and kidney function is essential for safe use.”
