Used For

  • Bacterial infections: respiratory tract, skin, ear infections.

How It Works

  • Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, stopping bacterial growth and replication.

Dosage

  • Adults: 500mg once daily or 250mg twice daily, depending on infection.

  • Children (over 6 months): weight-based dosing, usually 5–12 mg/kg/day.

  • Follow your doctor’s instructions and complete the full course.

In Case of Overdose

  • Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, headache, seizures in severe cases.

  • Seek immediate medical attention.

Missed Dose

  • Take as soon as remembered unless near the next scheduled dose.

How to Use

  • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.

  • Take on an empty stomach, preferably 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.

Drug Interactions

  • Antacids containing aluminum or magnesium.
