Indications
Amino Acids are used in the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy (decline in brain function due to severe liver disease) and patients with long-lasting liver diseases.
Contraindications
Its use is prohibited in patients with severe kidney disorders and those with abnormal amino acid metabolism (breakdown).
Precautions
Patients with congestive heart failure and severe acidosis (increased acidic content in the body) are advised to use this medicine with caution
Adverse effects
Its side effects include hypoglycemia (decreased blood glucose level), hyperammonemia (excessive ammonia in the blood), hypersensitivity reactions, nausea, vomiting, chest discomfort, palpitations, acidosis (excessively acidic condition of the body fluids), chills, fever, and headache.
Pregnancy
There is insufficient evidence available regarding the medicine’s safe usage in pregnancy, therefore, caution is advised.
Lactation
There is insufficient evidence regarding its safe usage in nursing females, therefore, caution is advised.
