Introduction
Dermosporin 1% lotion is an antifungal medicine used on the skin to treat common fungal infections. In Pakistan, it is often prescribed for athlete’s foot, jock itch, ringworm, and infections caused by Candida. Doctors also use it for pityriasis versicolor, a condition that produces light or dark patches on the skin, especially on the chest, neck, or arms.
Composition
Each 20ml bottle contains Clotrimazole 1%, an azole antifungal that works by stopping the growth of fungus.
Medical Use
Dermosporin 1% is generally prescribed for:
-
Athlete’s foot (tinea pedis)

-
Ringworm (tinea corporis)
-
Cutaneous candidiasis (fungal skin infection)
-
Pityriasis versicolor (patchy discoloration of the skin)
How to Apply
The lotion is for external use only. The affected skin should be washed and dried before application. A thin layer is gently applied to the infected area and some surrounding skin, usually twice a day, or as directed by a doctor. Regular use is important, even if symptoms improve early, to prevent the infection from returning. Hands should be washed after applying the medicine.

-
Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and other mucous membranes.
-
Do not cover the treated area with bandages unless instructed.

Not recommended for broken or severely irritated skin without medical guidance.

Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before use.
-

Side Effects
Most people tolerate Dermosporin lotion well. Some may notice mild burning, stinging, redness, or itching where the medicine is applied. These effects are usually temporary. Serious side effects are very rare but should be reported to a doctor immediately.
Doctor’s Review
Dr. Ayesha Malik – Consultant Dermatologist
Clotrimazole creams, such as Dermosporin, are well-known for treating fungal skin infections. They are generally effective and safe, but consistent use is important to prevent the infection from returning. If symptoms persist or irritation appears, a doctor’s advice may be needed.
