Diajard-M

Introduction
Diajard-M is an oral medicine for type 2 diabetes, prescribed in Pakistan when blood sugar cannot be controlled with diet, exercise, or single therapy alone. It combines two well-established diabetes medicines that work in different ways to lower sugar levels and reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications.

Composition
Each tablet contains a combination of:

• Dapagliflozin – an SGLT2 inhibitor that lowers blood sugar by increasing the removal of excess glucose through urine.

• Metformin – a widely used medicine that decreases glucose production in the liver and improves the body’s response to insulin.

Medical Use
Doctors prescribe Diajard-M for:

• Type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults

• Patients whose sugar control is not adequate with metformin alone

How to Take
Diajard-M is taken orally with water, usually once or twice daily with meals to reduce stomach upset. It should be taken regularly, and doses should not be missed or altered without a doctor’s advice.

Precautions

• Use strictly under medical supervision.

• Not recommended for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

• Patients with kidney or liver problems, frequent urinary infections, or dehydration risk should discuss this with their doctor before use.

• Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their physician.

Side Effects
Some patients may experience increased urination, urinary tract infections, nausea, stomach upset, or headache.
