Description
Cefixime 200mg belongs to the cephalosporin group of antibiotics. It works by stopping bacteria from building their protective cell walls, which leads to their destruction. This makes it effective in treating a wide range of bacterial infections caused by both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Common bacteria treated include Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, and Streptococcus pneumoniae.
It is important to complete the entire prescribed course even if symptoms improve early. Stopping too soon can cause the infection to return and contribute to antibiotic resistance.
