INDICATIONS

This medication is used in the prevention of ischemic neurological defects (disorders of the nervous system and brain due to lack of oxygen supply ) following subarachnoid haemorrhage(bleeding in the brain and space around the brain )

CONTRAINDICATIONS

This medication is not to be used in patients who have suffered a Myocardial Infarction (heart attack ) or an episode of unstable angina (decrease in blood flow to the heart which can cause heart attack )

PRECAUTIONS

Cerebral edema(fluid builds up around the brain ), raised intracranial pressure(pressure exerted by fluids in the brain) , renal(kidney) impairment , cirrhosis(scarring of the liver) , hypotension(low blood pressure ). Monitor BP.

SIDE EFFECTS

Hypotension(low blood pressure ) , flushing(sudden warmth or redness on areas of your skin ) , headache , changes in heart rate , GI upset . Transient(temporary) rise in liver enzymes (proteins inside the liver ) may occur with infusion. Allergic reactions.

PREGNANCY

Risk cannot be ruled out in pregnant females. Consult your healthcare provider for further details.

LACTATION

This medication is contraindicated in lactating females.
