Omsana 10mg has this stuff called Olmesartan in it. Your blood pressure gets high because your body makes something that squeezes your blood tubes really tight. This pill stops that from happening.
When your blood pressure stays too high for a long time, it messes with your heart and can give you strokes. This medicine keeps that bad stuff from happening. Lots of people with diabetes or heart trouble take it every day.
Formula / Composition
- What’s in it: Olmesartan Medoxomil 10mg
- What it does: Stops blood tubes from getting squeezed tight
- What you get: Regular pills
Uses in Pakistan
Doctors here give this when:
- Your blood pressure won’t stay down
- You might get a stroke or heart attack
- You have diabetes and it’s hurting your kidneys
- Your heart is bad and needs your blood pressure low
- Other blood pressure pills made you sick
Precautions
Don’t take this if it makes you break out or feel sick. Pregnant women can’t take it because it hurts the baby. If you’re nursing, ask your doctor first.
Your kidneys or liver are already messed up, be extra careful. This makes some people dizzy, so don’t drive until you know how you feel on it.
Don’t take extra potassium pills or use that fake salt stuff unless your doctor says it’s okay.
Possible Side Effects
Most people are fine with it, but you might get:
- Dizzy when you stand up
- Feel sick to your stomach
- Runny poop
- Really tired
- Your muscles hurt
- Itchy skin sometimes
- Blood tests might look funny sometimes
Call your doctor right away if your chest hurts, your face puffs up, you can’t breathe, or you can’t stop going to the bathroom.
When Not to Use
Don’t take this if:
- You’re allergic to it
- Your liver is really bad
- Your kidneys barely work or you’re on dialysis
- You’re having a baby
- Your kidney blood tubes are too narrow
- You had bad swelling from pills before
How to Use
Take one pill every day with some water. Try to take it around the same time each day. Doesn’t matter if you eat first or not. Just swallow it whole, don’t break it up.
Do what your doctor told you to do.
Drug & Food Interactions
Don’t mix this with other blood pressure pills unless your doctor says so. Pain pills like Advil can make this not work as good.
If you take lithium, this can make too much build up in your body. Don’t go nuts eating bananas and oranges because they have lots of potassium.
Don’t drink too much booze because it makes you even more dizzy.
Storage & Disposal
Keep it somewhere cool and not wet, under 25°C. Don’t leave it in hot places or the sun. Throw old pills away after the date runs out. Keep it where kids can’t get it.
Doctor’s Overview — Dr. Salman Iqbal, MBBS, FCPS (Cardiology)
This medication is commonly prescribed for patients with high blood pressure that is difficult to control. It is generally effective and does not cause the frequent coughing side effect seen with older blood pressure medications. It is especially helpful for people with diabetes, as it helps protect the kidneys from further damage. Regular blood tests are important to monitor kidney function and potassium levels. This medication should not be taken during pregnancy, and patients should avoid high-potassium foods. When used properly, it is safe and effective.
