Overview
Vancomycin (oral form) is used for bacterial infections inside the intestines, particularly Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea and enterocolitis. It works locally in the gut and does not treat infections in other parts of the body, which is why injected Vancomycin cannot replace oral Vancomycin for colitis-related conditions.
Doctor’s Review (Neutral Observation)
According to Dr. Farah Khalid (Infectious Disease Specialist, Lahore), oral Vancomycin is generally reserved for specific intestinal infections like C. difficile, and is not recommended for casual or preventive use. It must be handled carefully due to resistance concerns. This is a general observation only and not a treatment suggestion.
