How It Works
- 
Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that blocks gastric acid production by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme in stomach cells. 
- 
Reduces both basal and stimulated acid secretion, helping heal and prevent acid-related damage. 
Dosage
- 
Take as prescribed by your doctor. 
- 
Usually taken once daily before meals. 
- 
Follow full course for effectiveness and symptom relief. 
In Case of Overdose
- 
Seek immediate medical attention. 
- 
Symptoms may include dizziness, nausea, vomiting, or confusion. 
Missed Dose
- 
Take the missed dose as soon as remembered.

Skip if it’s close to the next dose.

Do not double the dose. 
How to Use

Swallow the capsule whole with water.

When Not to Use
- 
Allergy to Omeprazole or other substituted benzimidazoles.

Do not use with nelfinavir.

Known hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation. 
Side Effects
- 
Common: headache, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, nausea, flatulence. 
- 
Uncommon: dizziness, insomnia, somnolence, rash, pruritus, urticaria, malaise. 
- 
Rare: mental confusion, agitation, hallucinations, depression, gynecomastia. 
- 
Long-term use may reduce vitamin B12 absorption. 
Precautions
- 
Monitor vitamin B12 levels with long-term therapy. 
- 
Consider reduced dose in patients with liver impairment. 
- 
Exclude gastric malignancy if ulcer is suspected before starting therapy. 
- 
Elderly patients may have increased fracture risk with long-term high-dose use. 
Drug Interactions
- 
Ketoconazole, itraconazole, diazepam, citalopram, imipramine, clomipramine, phenytoin. 
- 
Atazanavir, Digoxin, Clopidogrel, posaconazole, erlotinib, Saquinavir, Tacrolimus, Methotrexate, clarithromycin. 
- 
Drugs affecting CYP2C19 or CYP3A4 (e.g., rifampicin, St John’s Wort). 
Storage
- 
Store at room temperature, away from heat and direct light. 
- 
Keep out of reach of children.
