How It Works
- 
Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, stopping bacterial growth and replication. 
Dosage
- 
Adults: 500mg once daily or 250mg twice daily, depending on infection. 
- 
Children (over 6 months): weight-based dosing, usually 5–12 mg/kg/day. 
- 
Follow your doctor’s instructions and complete the full course. 
In Case of Overdose
- 
Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, headache, seizures in severe cases. 
- 
Seek immediate medical attention. 
Missed Dose
- 
Take as soon as remembered unless near the next scheduled dose. 
- 
Do not double the dose. 
How to Use
- 
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. 
- 
Take on an empty stomach, preferably 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. 
- 
Avoid antacids or dairy products within 2 hours of taking the tablet. 
When Not to Use
- 
Allergy to Azithromycin or other macrolides. 
- 
History of liver or kidney problems. 
- 
Prolonged QT interval or heart rhythm disorders.

Myasthenia gravis. 
- 
Infants with esophageal or upper gastrointestinal narrowing.
