Used For

• Bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, skin, soft tissue

• Otitis media (ear infections)

• Uncomplicated genital infections

How It Works

• Azithromycin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that stops bacterial growth by entering infected tissues and slowly releasing to kill bacteria over time.

Dosage

• Take by mouth with or without food as prescribed by your doctor.

• Complete the full course, even if symptoms improve.

• Avoid antacids containing aluminum or magnesium during treatment.

• Maintain adequate hydration (2–3 liters/day) unless advised otherwise.

In Case of Overdose

• Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, irregular heartbeat

• Seek immediate medical attention.

Missed Dose

• Take as soon as remembered unless it’s near the next scheduled dose.

• Do not double the dose.

How to Use

• Swallow the tablet whole with water.

• Take at the same time each day for consistent effect.

When Not to Use

• Allergy to Azithromycin or other macrolides

• History of liver disease

• GI upset, nausea, diarrhea, anorexia

• Rash, photosensitivity, headache, dizziness

• Rare: arrhythmias, liver dysfunction, kidney problems, drowsiness, convulsions, palpitations

Precautions

• Inform your doctor about: prolonged heart cycle, irregular heartbeat, low magnesium or potassium, liver/kidney impairment, myasthenia gravis, galactose intolerance

• Use caution during pregnancy or lactation; consult your doctor

Drug Interactions

• Avoid combining with antacids that contain aluminum or magnesium

• Store at room temperature (18–25°C), away from light and moisture

• Keep out of reach of children

• Do not flush; dispose of as advised by a pharmacist
