Uses

Citralka is a urinary alkalinizer commonly prescribed in Pakistan to relieve discomfort caused by urinary tract problems. Doctors recommend it in conditions such as:

• Burning sensation while passing urine

• Pain and irritation caused by urinary tract infections (UTIs)

• Increased uric acid levels that may lead to kidney stones or gout

• Conditions where the urine needs to be less acidic

By reducing the acidity of urine, Citralka helps ease burning, promotes comfort, and can prevent the formation of certain types of kidney stones.

Formula

Citralka contains Disodium Hydrogen Citrate as its active ingredient. It works by alkalinizing (reducing the acidity of) the urine, which relieves irritation in the urinary tract.

Precautions

When using Citralka, some precautions should be observed:

• Always use under the guidance of a doctor.

• Inform your doctor if you have kidney disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, or electrolyte imbalance.

• Patients with a history of low sodium diet or fluid retention should be cautious.

• Take the medicine with a full glass of water. Drink adequate fluids unless your doctor has restricted your intake.

• Do not exceed the recommended dose, as this may lead to electrolyte disturbances.

Side Effects

Citralka is generally well tolerated, but side effects can occur in some patients, such as:

• Stomach discomfort

• Nausea or vomiting

• Loose motions

• Excessive thirst

• In rare cases, electrolyte imbalance or muscle weakness may occur if taken in high doses for long periods
